Web3 developers are invited to participate in the Base project, a layer 2 network that Coinbase Global recently launched. According to Base, the recently introduced product is an open-source Ethereum L2 with a vision for decentralisation and scale. Coinbase claims that Base is made for builders everywhere and is intended to be an open ecosystem where anyone, anywhere, can build.

Exchanges like Binance, Kucoin, OKx, and Coinbase have added Base to the increasing list of exchanges building their own chains, but there is a tonne of other options available, so why should developers build on Base? Base believes the primary reasons are the network's security, its capacity for decentralisation, and its creators. Here we have described 4 justifications for developers to use Base.

Ethereum Protects Base

Base is created utilising the Ethereum blockchain's inherent security as well as Coinbase's current operational model. Moreover, developers can access Base through Coinbase, Ethereum L1, and other commoditized networks.

Empowered By Coinbase

Since Base is a Coinbase project, developers on Base can take advantage of speedier fiat onramps, product integrations, and acquisition tools. Base will provide a home for Coinbase goods on the blockchain.

Open source with OptimismFND

As one of the tools for improving the Ethereum drawbacks, optimistic as a web3 utility has been gaining industry traction. In collaboration with OptimismFND, Base is built on the OP Stack to provide a decentralised, permissionless, and open-source network. The project's creators also believe that the core code should be publicly available and open-sourced. In order to create a network that the general public can contribute to, fork off of, and grow, Base is joining OptimismFND as the second Core Developer working on the OP Stack.

Big Features, Low Fees

In addition to its large feature set and low gas consumption, Base claims that it is completely EVM compliant and functions at a tenth of the cost. Using developer APIs for account abstraction and easy-to-use bridges, developers building on Base can configure gasless transactions for their decentralised applications. Base is inviting web3 developers to join the project even though it already has up to 25+ dApps communities and contributors at launch.

Wrapping Up

Base is designed to be the ideal environment for beginning Web3 developers. Developers can begin working on the Base testnet right now, and they should keep an eye out for the introduction of the main network.
